Greek Governance in the Digital Era<\/h2>\n

Greek letter organizations have a proud tradition of self-governance. Chapter officer elections, executive board votes, new member selections, and policy decisions are fundamental to how fraternities and sororities operate. But traditional meeting-based voting creates problems: mandatory attendance for voting excludes members with class conflicts, work schedules, or health issues. Paper ballots are time-consuming and hard to audit. And the informal show-of-hands votes that many chapters use for routine decisions lack documentation and anonymity.<\/p>\n

Officer Elections<\/h2>\n

Chapter officer elections are the most important governance function. Setting them up right matters:<\/p>\n

  1. Determine eligible voters: Typically all active members in good standing (dues current, academic requirements met). Review your chapter bylaws.<\/li>\n
  2. Open nominations per your bylaws: Many chapters require nominations from the floor at a meeting, sometimes supplemented by a nominating committee or self-nomination.<\/li>\n
  3. Create the ballot in ElectionChamp: One question per position \u2014 President, VP, Secretary, Treasurer, and any other elected roles.<\/li>\n
