Frequently Asked Questions

No. Voters just tap the secure link in their email or SMS and the ballot opens right in their web browser. Their unique voter key is embedded in the link, so there's nothing to type. Voters who were handed a key by the administrator (or if a link ever fails) can instead go to the vote page at app.electionchamp.com/vote and enter their 16-character voter key. It works on phones, tablets, and computers. No downloads, no accounts, no friction.

Each ballot question uses one of four methods: plurality (most votes win), ranked (counted with Borda points), cumulative, or nominations, where members write in names. Approval-style voting for several seats is a plurality question where each voter picks up to as many candidates as there are winners. Yes or no motions and surveys are plurality questions with options such as Yes and No. STV is supported through ranked ballots plus a free Excel calculator we provide. You can use different methods on different questions in the same election, and weighted voting works with any of them.

Yes. Weighted voting gives different voters a different number of votes, for example 2, 5 or 1. Turn on Weighted ballots on the Start step, then give each voter a whole number in the Weight column on the Voters step. Decimals are not supported. It works with every voting method, is included on every plan, and results show weighted totals.

ElectionChamp is free for elections with up to 20 voters. For up to 200 voters, it's a flat $10 per election. Beyond 200 voters, it's $0.05 for each additional voter. Keys you hand out and spare keys count as voters. There are no subscriptions, no monthly fees and no hidden charges, and all features are included on every plan. You pay once, when you launch. Setup and testing are free.

Yes. Members who get an email or text vote from their link, and members at a meeting or without email can vote with a key you hand out, on any device. Turn on Hand out keys on the Start step. Every vote is counted in one place, with one audit trail.

Yes. Ballots are separated from voter identities so a cast vote can never be traced back to the individual who cast it. Each ballot is stored with no voter ID, no timestamp and no submission order, and once cast it can't be changed or removed. We still record that each voter participated (to prevent duplicate voting), but the contents of their ballot remain anonymous.

Results are calculated automatically and instantly the moment your election closes: no manual counting and no human error. You can review and export the results, including a full audit trail, as soon as voting ends.

You won't be charged. You can set up, preview and test your election for free. You pay once, when you press Launch election on the Launch step. To remove a draft you don't need, use Delete draft in My elections.

Yes. ElectionChamp runs in any web browser, so administrators and voters can be anywhere. The ballot (questions, candidates or options, and bios), the instructions and the invitations can be written in any language. Only the voting screens' buttons and system text are in English. Prices are in US dollars, and you pay by credit or debit card when you launch the election.
