My elections: continue, copy or delete an election

Every election in your account in one place: what's live, what's still a draft, and what's done.

My elections is the page you see when you sign in. With no elections yet, it offers Start from a template or Start from scratch. With one unfinished draft, it shows Pick up where you left off. Otherwise it lists Live now, Drafts and Past elections. Press Continue to pick up a draft at its next step, Make a copy to reuse an election's ballot and settings, or Delete draft to remove a draft you don't need.

Your first election

On your first visit, the page is titled Set up your first election and offers two ways to begin:

  • Start from a template: the ballot, settings and invitation are filled in, for votes such as a Board of Directors election, an annual HOA meeting, an AGM, union officers, a bylaws amendment or a budget approval. Press Browse templates, then Use This Template. The new draft opens on the Start step.
  • Start from scratch: a blank ballot. You write the questions and choose how members vote.

Below them, How it works sums up the three stages, and Not sure yet? suggests trying it first with yourself and a few people you trust. See test your election.

My elections on a first visit: Set up your first election, Start from a template with example chips, Start from scratch, and How it works.
“About 10 minutes. Up to 20 voters is free, and you only pay when you launch.”

Pick up where you left off

When your only election is an unfinished draft, My elections shows it on its own:

  • The organization, the election name, and the five setup steps, with the next one marked next, such as Launch · next.
  • A Next: line saying what to do, such as Next: review and launch.
  • A button to carry on, such as Continue to launch. If the voting dates have passed, it reads Pick new dates instead.
  • Preview ballot, once the draft has a question.
  • What's in the draft so far: the Voting dates, Ballot, Voters and Price.

The card ends: “Everything so far is saved. Nothing is sent to members or charged until you launch.” Beside it are Help links and Delete this draft.

My elections with one draft: Pick up where you left off, the five steps with Launch next, Continue to launch, Preview ballot, and the draft's voting dates, ballot, voters and price.
Next: review and launch.

Live now, Drafts and Past elections

Once you have more than one election, or your only one has launched, they're grouped in three lists.

Live now

Scheduled and open elections, open ones first. An open election shows Voting open, when it closes, and a turnout bar with how many have voted. A scheduled one shows Scheduled, when voting opens, how many voters are ready, and how the invitations will go out. Click a card to open its dashboard.

Drafts

The most recently edited first. Each shows when you last edited it and its next step, such as Next: add your voters · step 3 of 5. Press Continue to pick up there. If its voting dates have passed, it's tagged Voting dates have passed and the button reads Pick new dates. The … menu has Make a copy and Delete draft.

Past elections

The most recently closed first, tagged Ended, Closed early or Everyone voted, with the date and the turnout. Each has a Make a copy button. The five most recent show first, and Show all lists the rest. Click one to open its results.

If you run elections for more than one organization, a filter at the top shows All organizations or just one. To start another election, press New election, then Start from scratch or Start from a template.

Make a copy of an election

A copy puts an election's ballot, settings and invitation messages in a new draft: handy for a yearly vote, or for the real election after a test.

  1. Press Make a copy on a past election, or in a draft's … menu.
  2. To bring the voters too, tick Also copy the voter list. Every voter gets a new key, and nothing in the copy has been sent or voted on.
  3. Press Make the copy. The new draft appears under Drafts, named Copy followed by the original name.
  4. Continue the copy: rename it on Start, check the dates, and change anything else.

The copy keeps the same voting dates. If they've passed, continuing the copy asks for new ones first. A copy costs nothing until you launch it. An election under Live now can be copied once it closes.

Delete a draft

  1. Open the draft's … menu and press Delete draft. If it's your only election, press Delete this draft beside it instead.
  2. Confirm. A dialog asks “Delete this draft?” and says “Its ballot and voter list are deleted too, and this can't be undone.” Press Delete draft, or Cancel to keep it.

Only drafts can be deleted. A launched election can't be deleted, and a draft can't be deleted while it's being launched.

My Elections Questions

No. Only drafts can be deleted. We delete an election 5 years after it closes, or after its last activity if that is later, and we email you at least 30 days before.

Not until you launch it. A copy is a new draft, priced like any other election when you launch it.

No. With Also copy the voter list, every voter in the copy gets a new key. Keys from the original don't work in the copy.

Its closing time is in the past. Press Pick new dates to choose new ones. Everything else you set up is kept.

Under Past elections. The five most recent show first, and Show all lists the rest.
