How to export election results to CSV
Results and the audit log both download as CSV files you can open in any spreadsheet.
To export election results to CSV, open the Results tab after the election closes and select Download CSV. The file lists each question, its candidates, their counts and percentages, and the winners. You can also export the audit log, the timestamped record of administrator actions, as a CSV from the Audit tab. ElectionChamp has no PDF export, so both downloads are CSV only.
How to download the results CSV
- Wait for the election to close. Results are calculated automatically.
- Open the Results tab.
- Select Download CSV.
- Open the file in Excel, Google Sheets or any spreadsheet app.
Save the file with your meeting minutes as soon as the election closes. In a spreadsheet you can sort, filter or chart the totals for a newsletter or annual report. Exports are included on every plan, free elections too. See pricing.
What the results CSV contains
The file covers every question on the ballot. For each one it lists:
- The question
- Each candidate or option
- Its count
- Its percentage
- Whether it won
Example: a board chair election with 3 candidates and 132 ballots. The CSV holds these figures for the question:
| Candidate | Count | Percentage | Winner |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alvarez | 61 | 46.2% | Yes |
| Brooks | 48 | 36.4% | No |
| Chen | 23 | 17.4% | No |
For ranked choice questions, results show each candidate's Borda point total. When Allow Abstain is on, abstentions appear separately in the Results tab. For a multi-seat STV count, export the ranked results and run them through our free STV Excel calculator; see STV voting.
How to export the audit log
The audit log is a timestamped record of every administrator action: dashboard views, voter list access, result views and an early close. If you turned on voter labels, voters are identified by that field in the log.
- Open the Audit tab in your election.
- Export the log. It downloads as a CSV file.
- Store it with the results CSV in your organization's records.
The log answers the questions that come up after a close vote, such as whether anyone viewed results before voting ended, or when the election was closed. Keep both files if a result might be challenged. See audit trail and handling election disputes.
Sharing results without a PDF export
ElectionChamp has no PDF export. If your board wants a document instead of a spreadsheet, there is no need to retype anything: open the CSV in a spreadsheet, format it, and print or save it from there.
For members, use Send election results after close to email every voter a secure link to the results page. That saves you attaching a file. See results visibility settings.
To present results at a meeting, show the Results tab on screen or paste the CSV figures into your slides or minutes. Both come from the same automatic count, so the numbers match.
Export Results Questions
